Hi, I’m Curt, your neighbor here in the Oak Parke neighborhood in SW Austin, TX 78749.
I have specialized in keeping our neighborhood’s iconic gas lamps glowing since 2017. Whether you're a fan of the old-school charm or not, the HOA requires them to be functional—and with no streetlights in our neighborhood, working lamps are a big deal for safety and curb appeal. Contact me, and let's discuss the options to restore your 30+yr. old gas lamp!
No commitment. And certainly, no pressure. Just helpful guidance and a price quote for a clear, bright path forward.
"It just needs to work again."
I’ll troubleshoot and restore your gas lamp to working order. All repairs are quoted and approved before any work begins. I often reuse quality parts salvaged from neighbors who’ve retrofitted to electric or solar, saving you money.
✅ Leak checks
✅ Mantle and igniting issues
✅ Hardware swaps with new or spare parts
Keep it clean and burning bright.
Regular upkeep extends the life of your lamp and keeps it looking sharp.
Includes:

Looking to modernize? I do that too.

Note: In both retrofit scenarios, the dedicated gas lines are safely shut off and capped.
"My lamp hasn’t worked in years and looks terrible."
You’re not alone. If your lamp is dirty, faded, has cloudy glass, has a leaning post, and is just an overall eyesore, this is a full overhaul to bring it back to life and restore curb appeal.
Think of it as:
🧼 Deep clean + 🔧 Repair + ✨ Aesthetic refresh

Hey there, my name is Curt, your friendly neighborhood Oak Parke Lampologist. I’ve called Oak Parke home since 2013, and about eight years ago, I found myself in the same boat as many of you: staring at a dim - or worse, completely dead gas lamp in the front yard.
Naturally, I rolled up my sleeves and figured it out. I have always been a hands-on, "Mr. Fix-It"..."McGyver" kind of guy, and once I got into the nitty-gritty of how these lamps work, it wasn’t long before I realized, “If my lamp needed love, so does my neighbor’s.”
I put the word out—and the word spread.
Helping neighbors with their lamps became something of a calling. Since then, I’ve repaired, refurbished, retrofitted, and resurrected countless lamps around the neighborhood. Odds are, I have worked on your next-door neighbor’s. If we haven’t met, just ask around for a personal reference.
There is nothing I haven’t seen when it comes to these lamps:
I’m not a licensed plumber—but trust me, plumbers aren't lamp-savvy. Plumbers will charge top dollar to figure it out as they go. I already know the quirks of these lamp posts, can source the parts, and charge far less for the work.
My goal is to ensure the quality of service, punctuality, and communication you receive is as good as my pricing!
I also enjoy showing other handy homeowners how to maintain their lamps. If you’re the DIY type, I’m happy to pass along the knowledge.
